My Favourite Entrance Themes – Part I

by ry3694

This week I thought I’d start of my two part series where I give you a rundown of my favourite entrance themes in WWE history. Apart from the in-ring wrestling that we see in WWE and outside WWE I feel that your entrance is a big element of being the complete package. We all have that one favourite entrance theme that as soon as it hits whether it be on Raw, SmackDown or PPVs sends chills down your spin or else has you singing. Entrance themes are a great way to connect with your fans, if they love your song they’ll remember it and that’s always a good thing in the tough industry of wrestling.

So let’s get on with my countdown!

10. Hulk Hogan – Real American

Whether you’re American or whether you’re not it doesn’t matter. This tune is catchy and suited Hogan down to a T. Hogan was very American and still is (Sex Tape bitches!) therefore I felt there wasn’t a better theme song for Hogan than this. When the first few beats of this song hit you knew Hogan was coming down the ramp and ready to kick ass. Whilst I may not be a huge Hogan mark, I always enjoyed hearing this tune!

“When it comes crashing down and it hurts inside, you gotta take a stand it don’t help to hide, if you hurt my friends then you hurt my pride I gotta be the man I can’t let it slide, I am a real American fight for the rights of every man, I am the real American, fight for what’s right, fight for your life.”

9. Drew McIntyre – Broken Dreams

Drew McIntyre’s theme song is great, in my opinion at least. A heavy hitting rock song that has great lyrics. Drew McIntyre is a badass and the song fits him perfectly because the lyrics are heavy and matches what he is doing within the ropes. “What is yours, now is mine” this could mean a title, taking a title from another wrestler. Then you have such lyrics like “And I dream broken dreams, I make them come true, I make them for you” this would be Drew inflicting pain onto the other wrestler. Definitely a song that suits Drew and definitely one of my favourites.

Out of time, so say goodbye,
What is yours, now is mine,
And I dream broken dreams,
I make them come true,
I make them for you.
I make them for you.

8. Stone Cold – Glass Shatters

The glass shatters and you know who’s coming through the curtain! 100% verified beer guzzling, ass kicking, complete bad ass Stone Cold Steve Austin! You get shivers down your spine ready to see Austin stomp a mudhole on someone as soon as you hear the glass shatter! Another classic that is easily identifiable with the wrestling community. My favourite version of Austin’s song is the one by Disturbed that does have lyrics; the lyrics are pretty bad ass, full of attitude that suits Austin 110%.

Step up! Cause you’re the next one in line for the kill. You don’t believe me but I’m betting that you will.
Step up! I’ll let you live a little bit with the pain that I bring. You know it’s only the beginning.

7. CM Punk – This Fire Burns

This is one of those songs that will instantly pump you up! It is such a motivational song that will have you feeling like WWE Champion and in CM Punk’s case that was soon to come for him. This was Punk’s theme when he was running around ECW and with the Straight Edge Society and would then drop it for “We Are One” which is another one of my favourites that sadly doesn’t make the top ten. The lyrics to this song reflect what Punk was thinking back then when he was climbing the ladder in WWE.

All I’ve ever wanted was destiny to be fulfilled
It is in my hands, I must not fail, I must not fail
Even through the darkest days
This fire burns always
This fire burns always

6. The Rock

This was one the biggest songs in wrestling for me when I was growing up, I was a HUUUUUGE Rock mark and the guitar riffs on this song sent a thousand and one shivers down my spine. There aren’t any lyrics other than “If Ya Smell, What The Rock Is Cooking” but as soon as the song was on for 1 second I knew straight away that it was the People’s Champ. This song is basically all guitar riffs but damn, great ones at that! This song is instantly recognisable amongst the wrestling community, and if you didn’t know it then you need to Know Your Role, and Shut Your Mouth!

That’s all the time I have for this week, next week I will be telling you about my next 5 favourite songs from the WWE. Please comment below whether you like, dislike, hate or love any of the songs above; I’d actually like to hear your thoughts on numbers 10-6. Also comment below and tell me your favourite songs in WWE, past or present. For shits and giggles I have added a poll below where you can choose out of these 5 songs which is your favourite; my bet is it’ll either be The Rock or Stone Cold!

Been a long time since I read an entrance related column. Awesome job. My favourite Wrestling team is probably Real American. I don’t know how many times I’ve played that. On my first iTunes, I had a play count of like 300 for that song, lol.

Lol yeah, real American is great song. I don’t like Hogan but damn did he have an awesome theme song! Lol!! Out of those 5 I’ve probably played Punk’s the most, but I have the Forceable Entry cd that WWE released years ago that I have outplayed so bad lol! It’s a classic.

It’s been really hard narrowing down my favourites, come back next week to see if Takers makes it on the list! ;) it is a great song and like you the Limp Bizkit one would be my favourite deadman tune. I never really like the current funeral music he has going.

He should have continued to use Johnny Cash’s ‘Ain’t no grave” when he returned earlier this year, IMO.

for sure!! That song was awesome. Definitely more exciting than the funeral music.

I love this write up man! Theme music is one of my fav things to discuss and make fun of. I like your list so far….and I like the shout out to Drews music. It’s quite powerful and IMO adds a lot to his character.

I’m going to guess your top 5…

    5) Repo Man theme
    4) Doink The Clown theme
    3) Big Boss Man theme (if you’re ever headin’ down to Cobb County, Georgia!)
    2) Sexy Boy – Shawn Michaels theme
    1) The Godwinns theme

I bet I got at least 1 right?

LOLOL! You may have got one right! But I’m remaining tight lipped on which one it may be! Theme songs are so important to me, they help me a lot in remembering a lot of the wrestlers.

Even though it’s a WCW theme, it was used in WWE and I hope it’s on here, the nWo’s theme. Easily, one of the best themes ever.

  11. I’m glad it’s not me writing this list. My top 10 wrestling themes changes every frickin’ minute (apart from my top 2, that will always be Bret Hart’s at number 2, and Demolition at number 1).

Some good choices in 10-6. Used to dislike Drew’s theme but it grew on me. Also you’ve picked the best of the Stone Cold themes in my opinion.

Truth be told the list changed a few times before being finalised. Once I got into the top5 it was A B C from there.

Drew’s song was the same for me but it grew greatly on me. AND yes! The Disturbed version of Stone Cold’s song is by far the best in my opinion :)
