Statement by WWE Representative
“WWE security was unfortunately not in the appropriate place at the time. Given CM Punk’s persona as a ‘bad guy’ fans were naturally heckling him, but unfortunately a few fans began shoving him and one struck him in the kidney and on the back.”
The rep adds, “WWE regrets that proper security measures were not in place, and CM Punk apologizes for reacting in the heat of the moment.”

“Just got an update from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department about the alleged incident involving @CMPunk. The Sheriff’s Department says at this point the fan does not want to proceed any further and there is no evidence that a crime occurred. The Sheriff’s Department also says the video is not part of the investigation because there is no investigation.”
Punk told WWE.com.
“I think the whole situation sucks,” “It’s an unfortunate and isolated incident. I was up in the stands, surrounded.”
“Somebody said, ‘let’s push him down the stairs,’” Punk explained. “I got hit in the ribs three times. I was getting shoved and I was getting punched…Then I started getting tagged in the back of the head. Unfortunately, I lashed out in the heat of the moment and I apologize. I’m really just glad nobody was hurt.”

There are no definite answers just opinions. And that is my opinion on this.
I got nothing myself… I got mixed reports that it was a swipe, that looks bad on camera (meaning that it looks like it he did back hand him) but I got others that a police report was involved, whatever the case maybe, this is not looking for for the best in the world
CM Punk is fucked. He definitely wont get away with that.
Something big is going to happen from this, needless to say, some fans do deserve it, however the sunglasses dude does seem innocent.

He did get shoved three times from behind. And obviously loads of people were getting in the way, blocking his reaction shots because they wanted to be on TV, which no doubt got him all pissy. I don’t even think the dude he bitch slapped was the one who pushed him. Dude looked like he was just in the wrong place and the guy who did shove Punk got away without the bitch slap he deserved. Probably a good example of why wrestlers should stay out of the crowd. Similar to what happens when fans jump into the ring. Not your natural habitat so might be a good idea to stay out of each other’s.

Yeah, I can understand fans wanted to be on TV, but they were fucking mauling him by the looks of it, he kept slapping hands away on his way there, and then some dick bag punches you… I think the glasses dude is innocent, however this will not look good.
Also on the get away with it thing, he probably will. Remember when Jericho was swinging punches at fans outside the arena a couple of years ago? That was a shit lot worse than this and it was caught on camera. Nothing happened. Then again someone will probably get paid for this to keep it all quiet.
One key difference, the timing, Jericho did that in a small environment where fans would defend him, Punk did this in the arena, on TV, to the wrong person, he might get slapped with a heavy fine, and Punk might issue a public apology, but this is still much worse than the Jericho moment.
I genuinely don’t know what to say about this?!? Fans are raucous and excitable, as a professional Punk should have been able to handle it better. No, he doesn’t deserve to get pushed and shoved, but clearly handled it wrong. I’m with you guys, he is fucked!
Everything is just speculation until something official is announced, right now we are just going on videos, but it doesn’t look good for punk

Might as well chuck my two cents in.
Yes – Punk shouldn’t have hit the fan. Yes – Punk was in the wrong.
Let’s just think about this though. As much as WWE is fan-friendly and they want fans to get involved, the wrestlers aren’t animals that people/fans should be able to paw at and not expect a reaction.
By the way, everyone’s saying how bad Punk’s reaction was. What if one of those shoves had knocked him all the way down that staircase? Just sayin..
Security should get the blame for the fact it was allowed to happen and Punk will take responsibility but he’s by no means fucked. Wrestlers have done far worse and nothing’s happened.
1. I really don’t blame Punk, although I do feel bad that the wrong guy got hit.
2. WWE issued a statement pretty much taking the blame that security wasn’t in the right place at the right time.
3. Hopefully nothing comes of this because CM Punk is the most interesting thing going right now.
4. I hope this IDIOT gets sued by the WWE for assaulting the talent. The moron goes on Twitter bragging about being a scared little punk. “I hit him and ran away, then ran back cause I saw the cameras” really? What a loser.
With the official statement, and until we hear more, this seems like an open and shut case for now.
I read the WWE statement and they put the blame almost 100% on security. CM Punk is officially untouchable and I don’t think this will hurt him professionally one bit.

Actually, I change my opinion.
Punk isn’t ”Fucked” and it was security’s fault. I had a closer look at some videos (the above two included) and the security did an awful job. They are paid for the fans protection, not the wrestler’s who can hurt them in case one of them picks a fight with them. lol
Anyone else find it ironic that the pre-sale password for WWE’s next show in Sacramento is SMACKFAN? Couldn’t have fucking written that script! lol
